Those in attendance were: M. Cowell, R. D'Antona, D. Farnham, R. Graham, R. Grasso, J. Lupi, B. Poock, R. Sanstad, D. Williams and Architect D. Finney. David Finney presented the cost estimates for the elementary school projects (attached). After considerable discussion, it was felt that the significant cost growth required further definition and clarification. Of particular concern is the MEP portion of the Joshua Eaton project. Mr. Finney will provide the committee with additional detail at the February 16th meeting. In the interim, R. Sanstad agreed to set-up a meeting with Fire Chief Don Wood regarding the potential requirement for a full sprinkler system in both schools at a cost in excess of $225K. (Note: Following the SBC meeting, D. Farnham and R. Sanstad met the Fire Chief in the corridor of Town Hall and initiated discussion on the subject. It was agreed that only the new construction would require the sprinklers (already planned) and that the attic area of Eaton would have sprinklers installed. This will result in a significant savings to the project.) R. Sanstad will set-up a meeting with the Town Manager and Treasurer to review the bonding options and strategy. R. D'Antona and R. Graham will also participate in this meeting. In addition, R. D'Antona will communicate the new cost information to M. Cummings and Dr. Munnelly. It is important to note that these costs are considered preliminary and have not yet been fully analyzed. They do, however, provide us with enough information that we can now begin our planning process. Joe Lupi presented the results of his sub-committee on screening the submitted proposals for the Parker project. They have narrowed the final list of architects down to six candidates (attached list). The sub-committee will contact these six and schedule them in for the full committee to interview. It is planned that three will come in on February 2nd and three on February 9th. After all interviews are completed, the full committee will make the final selection. The committee agreed to invite Jack Delaney, Principal of Parker Middle School, to participate in the interview process. The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 PM.
