1 SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES FEBRUARY 16, 1993 The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM. Those in attendance were: R. D'Antona, D. Farnham, J. Lupi, B. Poock, R. Sanstad and Architect David Finney. David Finney presented the updated estimates of the Birch Meadow and Joshua Eaton project. (attached) There was considerable discussion involved in understanding the figures by those present: The estimates, which total $6.307M, are considered to be a "worst case" scenario. For example, they include costs for both gas conversion an oil tank replacement. We will now proceed with our detailed planning activities using these costs as our baseline. A discussion was held revolving around the draft copy of the 1993 Annual Town Meeting Warrant. R. Sanstad reported on a discussion he had with the Town Moderator which indicated we will. be presenting to Town Meeting early on the evening of April 15th. It was generally agreed that the next meeting would be devoted entirely to the selection process of an architect for the Parker Project. Joe Lupi will lead the committee through this process. The purpaae of the visit was to assess the current condition of the mechanical/ electrical systems and identify any changes from the 1939 report. The following are my observations; . Birch Mea_ dews; In general, the ME? syetams are in excellent condition. The boiler plant is of sufficient capacity to support the new addition. A new distribution main in the crawl space would be requ'i.red. Zleutrioally, aJditional receptacles would be required in existing classrooms. A new fire protection system would have to be provided. Josiah Eat2n: The MEP systems are old, in poor condition, have no additional capacity and could fail at any time. This includes the primary equipment, the distribution systems and the terminal components. I recommend the complete replacement of these systems as part of any renovation project.
