October 23, 1995
Members Present: Lt. Bob Silva, Paul Peoples, James Cormier,
Wilbar Hoxie, Dick Monroe, Karol McLaughlin, Steve Blewitt,
Mike DeBrigard, William Lavoie, Lauretta Raffi, Selectman
Bruce MacDonald, Mike Bogaert, Max Ferro.
The meeting was called to order at 07:00 p.m.
Location of this meeting was at the Senior Center.
Lt. Silva briefed the committee on the prior meeting with
the selectman.
Max Ferro presented updated plans proposed for the
possible site on Oakland Rd. Max dicussed the topography of
the Oakland Rd. site and how the proposed station might fit
on this site. The proposed building was to be two stories
tall with an additional bell type tower for an elevator shaft.
A lenghtly discussion took place among all members present as
to some suggestions as to the floor plans to better suit the
police department needs in every day operations, such as 911
communications and interview areas for detectives, and
location of a womans locker-room, weapons storage and repair
areas, to name a few.
Selectman MacDonald spoke of a meeting that took place
with the Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, the neighbor to
the police station and himself to see if this neighbor was
willing to sell the property to the town for the the station
expansion or new building. This meeting took place on
October 23, 1995 at 0:500 p.m. According to MacDonald this
individual "Does not want to sell" this piece of property.
The committee was informed of an open hearing to be put
on by the high school council on November 1,1995 in the
lecture hall at the high school. The purpose of this meeting
was to get input as to the feasibility of the new police
station being builton Oakland Rd.
This meeting adjourned at 09:20 p.m.
