The Police Building Committee met at the Senior Center
on this date at 07:00 p.m. We waived the reading of the minutes.
We discussed the results of a meeting that was held on May 6, 1996
with Peter Hechenblikner. We asked Bruce MacDonald for his opinion
on what the Selectmen's direction might be regarding a preferred
site for the Police Station. William Bogeart, said he was not a
spokesman for the Molyneaux's, but felt that the recent publicity
regarding their refusal to sell their home was putting a lot of
pressure on them. Lt. Silva said that the committee was in no way
interested in pressuring the Molyneauxs.
We discussed Mr. Ferro's summary report and concurred
that the preferred site should be the Union/Middle St. site. We
also discussed the impossibility of the Police Department working
without the use of a lockup. Chief Marchand commented that safety
and security would be compromised during the construction phase.
Mrs. Raffi said that she would attempt to set up a
meeting between the Town Manager and the Board of Realtors to
discuss their interest in selling their property. Lt Silva
mentioned that all were invited to attend a Down Town Steering
- Committee °_s meeting _scheduled for Thursday May --16, --1996 at --2100
Hrs. at the Town hall. We dismissed at app. 2100 Hr a. .
