HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-11-03 ad Hoc Police Station Building Committee Minutes; L - Minutes Minutes Police Station Building Committee November 3, 1997 The Committee met in the Conference Room at Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts at 7:30 p.m. Present were Chair Paul Dustin, Vice Chair Bill Lavoie, Committee members Eric Jason Smith, Robert Cavagnaro, James Cormier, and Mike DeBrigard, also present were Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, FinCom Liaison Richard McDonald, and Selectman Bruce MacDonald. On motion by Bill Lavoie seconded by Mike DeBrigard the Police Station Building Committee unanimously accepted the submitted Minutes of the October 20, 1997, meeting. Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner introduced Brett Donham, Donham & Sweeney Inc., as the chosen Architect and Richard Marks, Daedalus Projects Inc. as the Project Manager. Peter Hechenbleikner reviewed the roles of the Architect and the Project Manager. Brett Donham submitted a draft building schedule. The Police Station Building Committee will report to Town Meeting on November 10, } 1997. Parking Spaces: The issue of parking spaces was discussed. Brett Donham asked if the present number of parking spaces had to be duplicated. Bruce MacDonald thought parking must be maximized. Paul Dustin will see if there is a formal position on the amount of parking spaces. Brett Donham would like to meet with some of the Police Station employees on Thursday, November 6, 1997. He thanked the Police Station Building Committee for selecting him. Paul Dustin asked if there are any environmental surveys needed. The schedule for future Police Station Building Committee meetings is: Thursday Monday Monday Monday Monday Monday November 20, 1997 December 8, 1997 December 22, 1997 January 12, 1998 February 2, 1998 February 9 or 16, 1998 2 Jim Cormier requested a consultant to review the present communication equipment at the Police Station. Project Manager Richard Marks thanked the Committee for this opportunity and submitted A preliminary 2 year building schedule. A special Town Meeting will be necessary in February 1998. On motion by Robert Cavagnaro seconded by X11 Lavoie the Police Station Building Committee voted to adjourn their meeting-at 8:50 p.m. by a vote of 6-0-0. Respectfully submitted, Recording SeereCary
