Paul Dustin: During correspondence between Jonathan Edwards, Peter Hechenbleikner,
and Brett Donham it was suggested that a row of plantings be placed on the walk between
Antons and the New Police Station. This is were Antons presently has their dumpsters.
Peter Hechenbleikner will _find out if this would be agreeable with Antons.
The new Town parking lot adjacent to the new Police Station will be built before
construction of the Police Station is started.
Brett Donham: Brett Donham presented the committee with a new set of plans that
incorporate the changes discussed with the Police Department. He would like the Police
Department to review the plans.
The construction of the Police. Station will be around 12 months, starting in October 1998
to October 1999.
Brett will have a cost estimate for the committee by February 12,. 1998.
The many dormers combined with the pitch of the roof will require high quality roofing
materials. It is requested that constant supervision be provided during. construction to be
sure these specifications are met.
The Town of Reading will provide curbing and sidewalks in front of the new police
station.
Geotechnical Report: The site contains ledge that is 2' to 13 1/2' below the surface. No
ground water was found and the site is on good solid ledge.
The cost of removing the ledge will increase the construction cost.
The Police Station Building Committee has tried to keep the community informed of their
progress. Chairman Paul Dustin appeared on the cable television show "Meet the Town
Manager" to present an update. There have also been several articles in the Reading
Chronicle.
