HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-01-04 ad Hoc Police Station Building Committee MinutesMinutes - ' Police Station Building Committee # o, 11 January 4, 1999 The Committee met in the Conference Room at the Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, Massachusetts at 7:30 p.m. Present were Chair Paul Dustin, Vice Chair Bill Lavoie, Committee members James Cormier, Edward Marchand, Eric Jason Smith, Jack Russell, Robert Cavagnaro and Mike DeBrigard also present were Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, FinCom liaison Richard McDonald, and Paul French from Daedalus Projects Inc. On motion by Edward Marchand seconded by Mike DeBrigard the Police Station Building Committee voted to unanimously approve the minutes of the October 19, 1998 meeting. Paul French: G & R has hired all of the subcontractors. There is a change order needed for additional conduit for the 911 system. G & R are one week behind schedule. Paul expects the streets to be cleared by mid February. Peter Hechenbleikner: The Protest has been settled in favor of the Town. The communication systems Consultant stated a need for additional conduit. Peter will have more information regarding the Consultant's recommendations at the next meeting. A couple of trees were removed from the site to give motorists better visibility while exiting the parking lot. Construction Progress: The excavation should be completed in a week or two. The Footings should be in by mid February. The steel should be in place by March 1, 1999. The exterior should be closed by mid April 1999. Blight Parking: The site is very tight with 26 parking spaces. The curbing will be finished in April 1999. Peter would like the excavation phase completed before they stop the overnight street parking. Meeting Schedule: The Police Station building Committee will meet the first Monday of the month. This will include: February 1, 1999 March 1, 1999 page 2 On motion by Jack Russell seconded by Bill Lavoie the Police Station Building Committee voted to adjourn their meeting at 8:00 p.m. by a vote of 8-0-0.
