HomeMy WebLinkAbout1999-07-26 ad Hoc Police Station Building Committee Minutesc.i Police Station Building Committee Meeting July 26, 1999 The meeting convened at 6:00 p.m. at the Police Station construction site on 15 Union Street, Reading, Massachusetts. Present were Vice Chairman William Lavoie, Committee Members Jack Russell, Bryan Irwin, Richard MacDonald, Jim Cormier, Mike DeBrigard, Robert Cavagnaro, Eric-Jason Smith, Town Manager Peter Heckenbleikner, Architect Brett Donham, Paul French and Trevor Johnson from Daedalus, Selectmen Sally Hoyt, Camille Anthony and George Hines, Police Lieutenant Robert Silva and Representative of G & R Construction Dennis Morel. Tour of Proiect with Architect, Constuction ManaLyer and Contractor The assembled group toured the construction site from bottom to top. The Police Station Building Committee Members along with the Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, Architect Brett Donham and Construction Manager Trevor Johnson adjourned to the Town Hall for the completion of the meeting. Approval of Minutes On motion by Russell seconded by Cormier, the minutes of the Police Station Building Committee Meeting of June 7, 1999 were approved as submitted by a vote of 6-0-0. Review of Construction Progress Brett Donham reviewed the construction progress on the project to date. He also reviewed the change orders and noted that more than halfway through the project, there are only $15,000 worth of change orders, $7,000 of which was to restore the Town Seals to the Tower. The schedule was reviewed. It was noted that a Certificate of Occupancy and substantial occupancy should be gained by the end of December. Two change orders have been issued to date. The Contractor will have to do an excellent job of management of sub- contractors to make sure that they are not trying to work at the same place at the same time. The Town Manager noted that we are trying to pay a lot of attention to neighborhood impact, and that neighbors should contact him directly if there are problems or issues. On motion by Russell seconded by Cormier, the Police Station Building Committee voted to adjourn their meeting of July 26, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. by a vote of 6-0-0. Pc ect 11 ubmitted, retary
