On motion by Mike DeBrigard seconded by Edward Marchand the Police Station Building Committee voted to approve the minutes, with changes, of the July 26, 1999 meeting by a vote of 5-0-0. Paul French updated the committee on the construction's progress. He said the total amount of change orders to date is in the $34,000. range. The project has a building contingency of $54,000. G & R have not been able to make up any time in the building schedule. The roofing is going slower than anticipated. The building will probably be finished mid January 2000, although G & R have not asked for a continuation in schedule. Paul will ask G & R for the exact day that they anticipate completion. The Committee will need to decide what day, if any, to activate the liquidated damages. The charge for liquidated damages is $1,000 per day. G & R have asked for an extension of time for some change orders. The communications room should be completed by December 1, 1999, so the additional work can be started. The building's exterior should be completed in two weeks and the staging will be taken down. Eric Jason Smith's house is the property abutting the police station. Eric has consented to have the Town remove the retaining wall bordering his property. The grade is level enough not to need the retaining wall. Richard Marks has access to some furnishing contractors that are on the state bid list. That means they publish their prices before hand. Peter said there is $125,000 $135,00 in the budget for furnishings. Chief Marchand expects to bring a couple of the dispatcher's chairs from the old building, but that is about all. CCR Consultants have given a bid of $175,000 for the dispatch equipment. On motion by Ed Marchand seconded by Bill Lavoie the Police Station Building Committee voted to adjourn their meeting at 5:15 p.m. by a vote of 6-0-0.
