Pre-Town Meeting - Aprilt24,2006
Call to Order
Chair Elaine Webb called the Pre-Town Meeting regular session to order at 6:07 p.m. in
Room A214 at Reading Memorial High School. Present were Ms. Webb, Mr. McFadden,
Mrs. Gibbs, Mr. Michaud and Mr. Caruso. Also present were Superintendent Schettini,
Assistant Superintendent Doherty and Director of Human Resources, Mary DeLai.
Routine Matters
Bills and Payrolls
Bills and Payrolls were circulated for signature.
Citizens' Input
There was no Citizens' Input.
Gifts
There were no gifts.
Reports of the Chairman, Liaisons and Superintendent
There was conversation regarding the Initiative Against Substance Abuse. The
Superintendent stated that Mr. Spadafora has done an excellent job on the Abuse
Committee.
Mrs. Gibbs moved to appoint Mr. Robert Spadafora to represent the Readin
School Committee for the purpose of presenting the Initiative Against Substance
Abuse Committee Report at Spring Town Meeting. Rob has worked very hard on
this initiative over the past many weeks and has represented the voice of the School
Committee well during that time. Mr. Michaud seconded the motion. The vote was
4-0. Ms. Webb, Mrs. Gibbs, Mr. Michaud and Mr. Caruso voting for and Mr.
McFadden voting against.
Chair Webb stated that the School Committee needs to appoint a voting delegate for
Massachusetts Association of School Committees Annual Meeting on Wednesday
November 8, 2006. There will be information coming out in the School Committee
packet for the May 8, 2006 School Committee meeting. Chair Webb asked the
