HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-05-01 School Committee MinutesReading School Committee Reading, Massachusetts Pre-Town Meeting May-L 2004 Call to Order Chair Elaine Webb called the Pre-Town Meeting regular session to order at 6:02 p.m. in Room A214 at Reading Memorial High School. Present were Ms. Webb, Mr. McFadden, Mrs. Gibbs and Mr. Michaud. Also present were Superintendent Schettini, Assistant, Director of Human Resources and Finance, Mary DeLai and Student Representative Lori Pelosi. School Committee Calendar Superintendent Schettini stated that there would be a School Committee Meeting on Monday, May 8r'' and May 22, 2006 in the Selectmen's Conference Room. He stated June 4t'' would be graduation and at the June 5, 2006 meeting they could make final decisions on committee liaisons. New Business There was discussion concerning the procurement of Fitness Equipment for the newly constructed fitness facility in the Field House at Reading Memorial High School. Ms. DeLai stated they received three bids for cardiovascular equipment, selectorized weight equipment, and Olympic free weight equipment. Two of the three bids received were deemed non-responsive due to their failure to conform to bid specifications. Mrs. Gibbs moved to authorize the Superintendent to enter into an agreement with Life Fitness in the amount of $101,446.38 to provide fitness equipment for the newly constructed fitness facility in the Field House of Reading Memorial High School as outlined in the Superintendent's memorandum dated April 272006. Mr. McFadden seconded the motion. The vote was 4-0. Ms. Webb, Mrs. Gibbs, Mr. Michaud, and Mr. McFadden. Superintendent Schettini was proud to state that Parker Middle School received a Spotlight Award and that Ms. Webb spoke at the presentation at Parker that afternoon. Superintendent Schettini stated that it was not only a great day for Parker but also a great day for Reading. He stated there are thirty-eight Spotlight Schools in New England with ten of them in Massachusetts. Reading has two of these schools. Adjourn Mrs. Gibbs moved to adiourn. Mr. Michaud seconded the motion. The vote was 4-0. Ms. Webb, Mrs. Gibbs, Mr. Michaud and Mr. McFadden. Superintendent of Schools
