Regular Session June 13, 2006
Call to Order
Chair Webb called the regular session to order at 6:04 p.m. in the Coolidge Middle
School Multi-Purpose Room. Present were Ms. Webb, Mr. Dahl, Mrs. Gibbs, Mr.
Caruso, Mr. McFadden and Mr. Michaud. Also present were Superintendent Patrick
Schettini, and Director of Human Resources and Finance Mary DeLai.
Bills and Payrolls
Bills and Payrolls were circulated for signature.
Citizen's Input
There was none.
Gifts
The Young Women's League of Reading made a donation of $500 to the Parker Middle
School for the purchase of a "Type to Learn" site license.
Mr. Michaud moved to accept the donation from The Young Women's League of
Reading to the Parker Middle School as outlined in the Superintendent's
memorandum dated June 8 2006. Ms. Gibbs seconded. The vote was 6-0. Mr.
Michaud Mrs. Webb Mr. Caruso Mr. Dahl Mr. McFadden and Mrs. Gibbs.
Report of the Liaisons
Superintendent Schettini announced that the Reading Friends and Family event was
occurring this weekend. The School Committee will have a booth on the common
adjacent to the Rotary Club and the Selectmen. There will be information available on
the school district.
There was a review of the upcoming meeting schedule.
There was discussion regarding instituting a maintenance deposit system in association
with rental of the turf fields. The deposit would be refundable if there is no
damage/debris.

Mr. Dahl asked if there was a fee for Reading Recreation to use the fields. He was told
yes but Superintendent Schettini is not sure of the exact amount.
There was discussion regarding the proposed playground at the Wood End School.
Ms. Brezezenski, a Wood End parent, gave an overview of the playground design as well
as the goals for fundraising.
Mr. McFadden moved that the Reading School Committee endorses installation of
the community playground facility located in the ball field off Sunset Rock Lane
adiacent to the Wood End School. Mr. Dahl seconded the motion. The vote was 6-
0. Mr. Caruso, Mr. Dahl, Mr. McFadden, Mrs. Gibbs, Ms. Webb and Mr. Michaud.
Old Business
School Committee Liaisons were discussed and positions filled.
Mrs. Gibbs moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:35 p.m. Mr. Michaud seconded. The
vote was 6-0. Mrs. Gibbs, Ms. Webb, Mr. Dahl, Mr. McFadden, Mr. Caruso and
Mr. Michaud.
