Regular Session April 26, 2004
Chair Dahl called the regular session to order at 5:35 p.m. in the Reading Memorial High
School Guidance Conference Room. Present were Mr. Carpenter, Ms. Webb, Mrs.
Gibbs, Mr. Dahl and Mr. McFadden. Also present were Superintendent Schettini,
Associate Superintendent Richards.
BILLS and PAYROLLS
Bills and Payrolls were circulating for signature.
SUPERINTENDENTS'S REPORT
There was discussion regarding the Capital Plan.
Mr. Carpenter moved to annrove the subject of the Capital Improvement Plan as
spelled out in the Superintendent's memorandum dated April 22, 2004 to be
included in the submission to the Finance Committee and Town Meeting and be

Mr. McFadden left the meeting at 5:55 p.m.
Ms. Webb moved to direct the Superintendent to send a statement to Town Counsel,
Brackett and Lucas, that the Reading School Committee opposes in the most serious
of terms any changes to the Town Charter that would remove custody and care of
the School Buildings from the jurisdiction of the Reading School Committee Mrs
Gibbs seconded the motion. The vote was 4-0 Mr. Carpenter, Ms Webb, Mrs
Gibbs and Mr. Dahl.
The Superintendent stated that Michael Gilbert from MASC will be coming to the May
10, 2004 School Committee Meeting to give an overview of three School Committee
policies.
RECESS
Mrs. Gibbs moved to recess at 6:30 p.m. to reconvene with the Finance Committee
Mr. Carpenter seconded the motion. The vote was 4-0 Mr. Carpenter, Ms Webb,
Mrs. Gibbs and Mr. Dahl.
