Reading Memorial High School -
Josh Alston of Judith Nitsch Engineering was present to request a letter from the
Conservation Commission to School Building Assistant Board concerning proposed
renovations at the High School. He passed out a letter and preliminary site plans and
described proposed alterations. Keith Hoffses, the architect for the project, was also
present and helped to describe the plan.
The football field is located in the Riverfront Area and will be converted to artificial turf.
The track will be redone with a rubber surface. The front end of the building will be
demolished, with the "C" building in the back remaining, and new structures built. Other
playing fields and the tennis court may be refurbished. They expect to file a Notice of
Intent for the project.
Ms. Fink will like to see some drainage improvements incorporated in the plan.
The Commissioners reviewed the letter that had been sent to the SBAB for the new
elementary school. They revised several sentences and asked Ms. Fink to send the letter
with revisions to Mr. Alston.
Mr. Goulet reported that he had passed in Ms. Fink's evaluation to Peter Hechenbleikner.
He also had attended the Eagle Scout ceremony for Jim Kirlin.

Jim Harrington, Trustee, and Steve Eriksen, engineer, presented a preliminary plan for
single-family house on the Sanborn Lane lot. The plan showed a smaller house than the
one denied by the Commission under a previous Notice of Intent. Mr. Eriksen asked the
Commission for an informal decision to see if this project would be acceptable, and noted
that the Trust continues to pursue approval under Chapter 40B for a 4-unit condominium
development on the site. The next hearing with the ZBA will be May 22, 2003.
The Commission noted that there was not a quorum present and no decisions could be
