Discussion with Tow -Roleof the Conservation
Commission in hiring the new administrator.
Peter discussed the two possible approaches to filling
this position. The first approach is to screen the
resumes, have a traditional interview and hire accord-
ingly. The second and more likely approach is to set
up an Assessment Team consisting of the Town Manager,
a member of the Conservation Commission, a Conserva-
tion Administrator from another town and the Director
of Community Development. The team will run the pro-
spective applicants through a series of exercises
(i.e, site plan review, role playing, public speaking
exercise, enforcement examples, written communication
exercises, etc.) and rate them. The Town Manager will
select a designee, who will meet with the Conserva-
tion Commission for an interview.
