I explained that the Board had discussed their correspondence asking for an amendment to the PILOT and that the initial agreement and inquiry had been forwarded to Town Council fora legal opinion of potentially amendment it. I have sent requested information to an Attn. Cheryl Blake, working for Attn. Cohen, regarding the assessed values of apartment buildings in the Town. It appears that the Boards request is being currently acted upon. 2. On 07/29/97, I called the Department of Revenue to get information relative to commercial tax incentives that may be available. Holding the annual classification issues constant, the only other potential commercial tax incentive is Massachusetts Tax Increment Financing (TIF). The TIF program, which is what we have information on, is available to areas deemed by the Economic Assistance Coordinating Council at the Massachusetts Office of Business Development as being "economic centers" in Massachusetts. I have yet to wade through the some 50 pages of specifics regarding this program, though I am reviewing it now to see if it would even potentially apply to Reading. At a glance it appears not to be the case. 3. We have received to date 102 sales questionnaires back from the mailing that was done 07/09/97. Out of these 102 received, there have been 60 inspected to date. 4. To date we have received back 57 of the income and expense forms. I am in the process of analyzing and putting the information into spreadsheet format. I will prepare the results for the Board's next meeting.
