Ad Hoc Northern Area Greenway Task Force Town Hall Conference Room HIT] HIT]j i 11 : 21 A 42 April 19, 2007 Minutes Attendance: Dave Williams, Will Finch, Fred Alexander, Mark Rumizen, Joan Hoyt, Charles Donnelly Moran, Absent: Brant Ballantyne, Frank Driscoll Also present: Kim Honetschlager, GIS Coordinator, Bob Weggel The meeting was called to order at 7:45 PM. Minutes from the April 5 meeting were amended and approved 6-0 Issues discussed: • Reviewed BOS tour of Bare Meadow and Log Cabin area. o Discussed alternatives for crossing Main Street. Guided by Fred Alexander, Joan Hoyt, and Will Finch o Discussed maintaining natural setting versus more development • Peter H. comments to Kim o Keep NW Passage option open o Grant money is out there o Task Force should work on trail surface and accessibility standards • Reviewed Chronicle article on BOS presentation • Discussed options for Greenway route o NW passage or route via roads o Propose what committee thinks is best route o Present "grand scheme"? • Present alternative crossing concepts in final report o Pedestrian light o Overpass o People using Mill to Pearl crossing now ■ But would need advanced warning blinking light o Mill St at Elderberry La. Has blinking light now • Boardwalk Eagle Project (Chris Bosco) o Use cinder blocks w/ rebar o Cover about 1/3 of boardwalk ■ Timberland to complete boardwalk? o Discussed methods to sink posts for boardwalk ■ Reviewed/discussed Charles' list of Eagle Project ideas ■ Teradyne has contacted Town Conservation office for volunteer project ■ Reading Friends of Historic Preservation has $2000 to donate Will to check with resident of Old Sanborn La. Regarding use of Very Old Sanborn La for NAG Final Rpt to BOS by June 30 o Plan on presenting in June o Need to start presentation now to give task group direction o Master plan with fall-back plan ■ Decide on plan at next meeting o NW passage is route ■ Need method to generate estimates/plan • Contact Reading Open Land Trust regarding Fairbanks Marsh for route to Log Cabin ■ Bob to Handicap access stds (DCR) • Fred to get boardwalk info/cost estimates ■ Bob get estimate for sign post • Dave to address trail clearing ■ Dave to call DPW regarding Surface treatments for trails a Cinder/stone dust ■ Mark to upgrade spread sheet • 90% of NW passage will require boardwalk Next meeting will be Wednesday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM.
