We noted the lengths of bog bridging needed in 2 places as well as the length of a proposed bridge over the stream. We still need to wheel the distance from Haverhill St in along the trail so that we have a record of where each section starts. We encountered 1 neighbor happy about the proposed trail, and 2 others concerned about it (Haverhill St traffic and parking were the main issues). Colin Baillie joined us at last night's meeting to discuss his proposed Eagle Scout project building said trail. We discussed bog bridging versus boardwalk, made some suggestions, but then deferred to Colin to come up with a plan acceptable to the Conservation Commission and within his budget. Colin's target date is this fall and he's thinking along the lines of 3 weekends of work with himself supervising other Scouts. Passing the RMLD yard today, I noted pallets of lumber lying around as well as some telephone poles chopped up in shorter lengths ready to be thrown in a dumpster. Charlie would you suggest to Colin that RMLD may be a resource? Here is a good resource: http://rfatnw.fhi, a.dot.gov/ervironrnen.t/Fspubs/01232_0.33/toc_.litm with specific info on bog bridging: m http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/enviroriment/Fspubs/01232033/found0S.htm#sors Our next meeting is Thursday, July 26 at 7:30 PM. Please plan to RSVP as we approach that date so that we know if we'll have a quorum. Happy summer! Kim
