The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM.
7/26/07 minutes approved
Issues discussed:
• Two grant possibilities found by Dave
• New map of greenway created by Kim that.includes both new symbols and area names
o RT 28 crossing - leaving out or including markers at proposed crossings
o Numbering of zones on map should be simplified
• Renaming NAG to either Ipswich River Greenway or Reading Greenway
• Final route for greenway with alternatives
• Feasibility study for NW passage
• Recommending purchase by town of two acre property with small frontage (J2)
• Sidewalk at 02 to cabin
• Recommending NW passage as part of main greenway path
• No built parking at Haverhill St. trial entrance
• Kiosk at Wood End Cemetery trail entrance
• Frank to assess path from Wood End Cemetery entrance to main body. Bare Meadow
• New parking at water treatment plant, log cabin (10-12 cars), and Wood End School
• Motion to rename NAG to "Ipswich River Greenway" approved 5-0
• Yellow Blaze trail as spur or main trail
o Trail will require steps at entrance
• Re-grading and/or paving hill near pump house to Scout Circle
• Scouts working on Pine Ridge Trail now
Compostarea not viable option to be included in trail
• Making trail from water treatment plant to Lob's Pound ADA accessible
• Possibility of proposing alternative trails to main greenway
o Blue route as alternative
• Motion to route greenway trail as marked on latest map in orange from water treatment plant
to J5 via NW passage approved 5-0
• Motion to route greenway in Bare Meadow from log cabin via new trail (detailed by Brant)
though the meadow to the trailhead just east of Pearl St. entrance approved 5-0
• Placing raised deck in Bare Meadow near where old exercise platform now stands
• Safest crossing of RT 28 is at 02 will be recommended to BOS, but actual method of
crossing is properly left with BOS
• Amount of focus that should be placed on blue trail (road) and other alternative routes
• Prioritization of areas to be completed first
o Haverhill St. to Bare Meadow trail
o Log cabin to Bare Meadow trail
o Lob's Pound to Marion Woods
• Frank to follow up on maintenance plan for fire road maintenance for post water treatment
plant era
• Next meeting should focus on financial aspects of greenway; a proposed outline for the final
report, and setting a date for presentation
