The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM.
9/27/07 minutes approved
Issues discussed:
• New name may be confused with North Reading's Ipswich River Park
• Final BOS report will be December 11tH. Materials due the Thursday prior to presentation
• Peter H. inquired about trail standards
o Peter H.'s definition of accessible as older people/jogging strollers, not necessarily wheelchair
o Trail maintenance will be key for accessibility
• Maps discussion
o ` Zones simplified
o Limiting number of spurs shown for purposes of BOS
• Cost spreadsheet
o Estimates divided into three proposed routes that include sections in zones
o Each section (group of zones) can stand alone and be adjusted
o Public road bypass to J is alternate trail
o Pedestrian traffic and crosswalk items may be removed
o Route 2 may be removed
o Costs for feasibility study for NW passage should be added (40K?)
o Prices currently shown are for contracting - not volunteer labor
o Mark to restructure spreadsheet
o Parking costs not necessary to include
o Charles to get costs from Chris Bosco: total number of hours, total material costs to get man
hours / ft. and materials / ft. , also get labor rate (non volunteer)
o Fred to get helical pier for estimate on NW passage (from Brookline Hall's Pond quote)
o Proposed cost for viewing platform at Bare Meadow and/or town forest near S1
o Need to identify sections that could be completed by volunteer effort for costs
o M1 and M10 can be volunteer
o Small boardwalks (M5) can be volunteer effort.
o A2 is one third to one half completed
o A8 trail requires boardwalk - good,candidate for a grant
o A6 is similar to Haverhill St. to Bare Meadow project (40 ft. of boardwalk required).
o Kim to send out worksheet for description of assessment (level of effort and description);
o Determine which zones can be covered by grants and how much money can be obtained through
grants
o For purposes of "presenting (strong strategy with dates to encourage movement)
o Trial descriptions should be written up
■ Grid showing estimates for= professional contracting via grants, adult volunteer labor,
younger person volunteer labor,
o All NAG r iembers:~go through Kim's proposed schedule, and make any recommended changes
Next meeting dates: Thursday, October 25th at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, November 8"' at 7:30 p.m.
Trail Summit is October 18tH
Matera Dedication (Maters Conservation Area) October 27th around noon
Meeting adjourned 9:10 pm
