ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
November 7, 2005
A meeting of the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Management Advisory Committee (WSSWMAQ
was held at 8:00 PM on Monday, November 7, 2005, in the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall, 16
Lowell Street, Reading, MA.
In attendance were Chairman Stephen Crook, Secretary John Wood, Committee member Richard
Moore, associate member Gail Wood, DPW Water Treatment Plant Operator Peter Tassi, DPW
Director Ted McIntire, representatives Bob Cutone and Brian Buckley from CDM.
The Committee reviewed the proposed presentation to be made to the Board of Selectmen on
Tuesday, November 9, 2005. They also reviewed the presentation prepared by Finance
Director/Assistant Town Manager Bob LeLacheur.
It was moved by Richard Moore, seconded by John Wood to construct a water treatment plant at the
former compost area.
It was moved by John Wood, seconded by Richard Moore to table the previous motion. It was
approved by a vote of 3-0.
It was moved by Richard Moore, seconded by John Wood and approved by a vote of 3-0 to
recommend that the Town construct a new water treatment plant.
It was moved by Richard Moore, seconded by John Wood and approved by a vote of 3-0 to
reconsider the former compost area as a site for the new water treatment plant. The Committee felt
that because the site appeared to be the lowest total cost and the best site functionally for the Town,
that it should be reconsidered as a viable site.
It was moved by . Richard Moore, seconded by John Wood and approved by a vote of 3-0 to
recommend the following sites, in priority order:
1. former compost area;
2. existing compost area;
3. existing water treatment plant site.
It was moved by John Wood, seconded by Richard Moore and approved by a vote of 3-0 to adjourn
the meeting at 9:23 PM. ,
