HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-11-29 Water and Sewer Advisory Committee MinutesWATER, SEWER AND STORM WATER MANAGEMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES November 29, 2005 A meeting of the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Management Advisory Committee (WSSWMAC) was held at 6:47 PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, in the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA. In attendance were Chairman Stephen Crook, Secretary John Wood, Committee members Richard Moore and Steve Oston, associate member Gail Wood, Guest David Tuttle, DPW Director Ted McIntire, DPW Water Treatment Plant Supervisor Peter Tassi. Water Supply Options Ted McIntire explained to the Committee that the Board of Selectmen at their meeting this evening will be working to develop a decision plan for the Town's future water supply. It was moved by Richard Moore, seconded John Wood and approved by a vote 4-0 to adjourn to the Board of Selectmen meeting at 7:04PM. Board of Selectmen Meeti Assistant Town Manager Bob LeLacheur indicated that the MWRA is willing to come in and make a presentation to the Board of Selectmen. He also indicated that the cost for full buy-in for the MWRA water supply would be $11 million. It was also noted that the Town would need an additional $340,000 to complete design and biding of the project. The recommendation of the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Management Advisory Committee is to build a new water treatment plant and to continue with a supplemental supply from the MWRA during the summer months. The Board of Selectmen will request the MWRA. attend their December 13, 2005 meeting and the Town Manager will schedule the DEP and Water Resources Commission for some time in the near future.
