ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
March 8, 2006
A meeting of the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Management Advisory Committee (WSSWMAC) was
held at 7:44 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, in the Lower Level Conference Room, Reading Town
Hall, 16 Lowell Street, Reading, MA.
In attendance were Chairman Stephen Crook, Secretary John Wood, Committee member Steve Oston,
associate member Gail Wood, Board of Selectmen Liaison James Bonazoli, and DPW Director Ted
McIntire.
Meeting Minutes
John Wood submitted a draft of the minutes of February 15, 2006. The minutes will be included in next
months package for a vote by the Committee.
Water Supply Options
The Board reviewed a draft matrix of "Comparison of Water Supply Options Town of Reading" which
will be put on the Town's website, submitted to local news outlets and used by the Board of Selectmen as
a tool to make their decision on whether to continue with the design and construction of a water treatment
plant or pursue 100% MWRA water supply. The Board of Selectmen will be hosting a call-in forum at
the RCTV studios on March 14, 2006 and hold a public information session on,Tuesday, March 28, 2006
from 6-8PM at the Reading Public Library. The Committee discussed the matrix and made numerous
recommendations for revisions, additions and deletions. Ted McIntire will forward those
recommendations to the Town Manager.
Water Issues
® High Street Water Main Construction - It is expected that construction of the High Street water
main from Woburn Street to Lowell Street will begin the first week of April.
® Water Meter Radio Read - Water Division employees will be changing out failed transponders
manufactured by RAMAR and installing new radio units supplied by Neptune Meter.
John Wood indicated that he would not be available for the April 12, 2006 meeting
It was moved by John Wood, seconded by Steve Oston and approved by a vote of 3-0 to adjourn the
meeting 10:44PM.
