A meeting of the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Management Adviso Co ttee 321
was held at 7:40PM on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, in the Berger ~►d~
Hall, 16 Lowell St, Reading, MA.
In attendance were Chairman Steve Oston, Secretary John Wood, Committee members Stephen
Crook, Richard Moore, Finance Committee Liaison David Greenfield, Guest David Tuttle and
DPW Director Ted McIntire.
Meeting Minutes
It was moved by John Wood, seconded by Steve Crook and approved by a vote of 3-0 to approve
the Minutes of February 28, 2007 as corrected.
It was moved by Steve Crook, seconded by John Wood and approved by a vote of 3-0 to approve
the Minutes of April 23, 2007 as written.
FY2008 Water Rate
Ted McIntire handed out a rate package to the Committee.
Richard Moore joined the meeting at 7:55PM.
Ted noted that the five year usage volume is approximately 753,000 hundred cubic feet (HCF), the
projected volume in FY2007 706, 070 HCF. The Committee discussed other volume averages by
using less than five . years, such as three years. The average volume would them be closer to
730,000 HCF. It was moved by John Wood, seconded by Steve Crook and approved by a vote of
4-0 to use 730,000 HCF as a billing volume projection. It was moved by John Wood, seconded by
Steve Crook and approved by a vote of 4-0 to recommend a FY2008 water rate of $7.18 per one
hundred cubic feet, with a minimum bill of $14.36, effective with the September 10, 2007 billing.
FY2008 Sewer Rate
It was moved by Richard Moore, seconded by John Wood and approved by a vote of 4-0 to use
693,500 HCF as a sewer billing volume.
It was moved by Richard Moore, seconded by John Wood and approved by a vote of 4-0 to
recommend a FY2008 sewer rate of $7.08 per one hundred cubic feet, with a minimum bill of
$14.16, effective with the September 10, 2007 billing.
