M A S S ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES August 8, 2007 2001 SEP ! P 5- 1 A meeting of the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Management Advisory Committee (WSSWMAC) was held at 7:30PM on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, in the Berger Rm, Reading Town Hall, 16 Lowell St, Reading, MA. In attendance were Chairman Michael McIntyre, Secretary Richard Moore, Committee member Stephen Crook, Board of Selectmen Liaison James Bonazoli, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and DPW Director Ted McIntire. Future of WSSWMAC Mike McIntyre identified two options for the Committee: disband; and expand the charter of the Committee. Richard Moore indicated that there needed to be improved communications between the Board of Selectmen and the WSSWAC, that it might be a good opportunity to have new members on the Committee and that he was unsure as to what the direction from the Board of Selectmen would be. Peter Hechenbleikner indicated that the Selectmen may want to take a fresh look at what needs to be done in the area of water, sewer and storm water. Mike McIntyre mentioned the demolition of the existing Water Treatment Plant and what might be done with the land where it presently sits. Richard Moore mentioned the conservation plan and doing an evaluation of where we are, what we have spent and what needs to be done. Mike McIntyre was of the opinion that the Committee should be disbanded. James Bonazoli explained that the Board of Selectmen discussed the options at their meeting last night and, if the Committee is disbanded, it was suggested that many of the responsibilities could be addressed by the Finance Committee. He also indicated that he likes the idea of an Ad Hoc committee to work on special projects. Peter Hechenbleikner indicated that an Ad Hoc committee would be made up of people with specific expertise to discuss a specific issue or issues. He stated that this Committee has a lot of expertise and it would be beneficial if members were available to work on projects in the future. It was moved by Richard Moore, seconded by Stephen Crook and approved by a vote of 3-0 to recommend that the Board of Selectmen disband the Water, Sewer and Storm Water Management Advisory Committee. The Town Manager stated that the Committee should take satisfaction in the work that has been accomplished and the benefits brought to Town Meeting and the Board of Selectmen. Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner and Board of Selectmen Liaison James Bonazoli left the meeting at 7:47PM. Chairman Michael McIntyre will write the letter to the Board of Selectmen indicating the recommendation of the Committee. 01 Minutes WSAC August 8, 2007 Page 1 of 2 Meeting Minutes It was moved by Stephen Crook, seconded by Richard Moore and approved by a vote of 3-0 to approve the minutes of May 9, 2007 as written. It was moved by Stephen Crook, seconded by Richard Moore and approved by a vote of 3-0 to approve the minutes of July 11, 2007 as amended. Ted McIntire indicated that he will let the Committee know when the Board of Selectmen will be meeting to vote on status of the Water,. Sewer and Storm Water Management Advisory Committee.
