Present were Selectmen Chairman Ben Tafoya, Selectman Richard Schubert, residents Tony Capobianco and Joan Marshman and Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner. The Board of Selectmen interviewed Tony Capobianco. He has applied for membership on the Advisory Committee on the Cities for Climate Protection. He works in Wakefield and has a passion for climate protection issues. The Committee thanked him for his interest, and it is likely that he would be appointed to a full position on the Advisory Committee on the Cities for Climate Protection. The Committee interviewed Joan Marshman. She has lived in Reading for four years. She has interest in the Cultural Council, Historical Commission, Trails Committee and the West Street Historic District Commission. She has extensive involvement in the Carver Cultural Council, and is an artist and practices graphics arts as. well as vocal arts. She also lives in a historic home and is interested in historic preservation. The Committee thanked her for her application, and would likely recommend her appointment as a full member on the Cultural Council and perhaps as a full member or Associate member on the West Street Historic District Commission. The Committee reviewed correspondence from Elise Ciregna regarding privacy, and indicated that her address is a public record, and could not be held from public view. The Town Manager will let her know that. The Committee also reviewed the application of Brian Sullivan for re-appointment. The Town Manager noted that he has moved from Reading and has, therefore, resigned from the Conservation Commission. The Town Manager will let him know that. Because Chairman Ben Tafoya is related to one of the members of the Economic Development Committee who is applying for re-appointment, the EDC appointment process will be held for a full Board of Selectmen review. The Committee is not clear on whether or not Lori Hodin is interested in being re- appointed to the Human Relations Advisory Committee, and there is also a vacancy for a full member. Chairman Ben Tafoya called Margaret LeLacheur to see if she is interested in being appointed to a full membership. E Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee Meeting - June 1 2010 - Page 2 The Town. Manager had a list of calls to be made to see whether people would be interested in being re-appointed. These included the Audit Committee, Gina Snyder on the Advisory Committee on. Cities for Climate Protection, David Williams on the Advisory Committee on Cities for Climate Protection, Lori Hodin on the Human Relations Advisory Committee, Randall Jones on the Human Relations Advisory Committee, Tom Connery on the Town Forest Committee, and Stephen O'Shea on the West Street Historic District Commission. The Board of Selectmen will also have to consider appointments to the Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee - the policy indicates that two new members would sit on that Committee, not Ben Tafoya and Richard Schubert. The Town Manager will contact John Blake who was not available for an interview, and determine what other Boards, Committees and Commissions he might be interested in since the Aquatics Advisory Committee no longer exists. Selectman Richard Schubert asked if all Boards, Committees and Commissions members email addresses could be put together in one place so that correspondence could be done by email rather than regular mail. The Town Manager will check on this. On motion by Schubert seconded by Tafova. the Volunteer Appointment -Subcommittee voted to adjourn their meeting of June 1, 2010 at 8:10 p.m. by a vote of 2-0-0. Respectfully submitted, Secretary
