I. Verizon update
A. Contract negotiation still in progress
B. Verizon given extension till late September
II. Theo Kuliopoulos from North Reading - Vice Chair of the Cable Advisory Committee
A. North Reading Comcast contract up in 2008 and wondering how we are
handling Verizon
B. Interested to find out "How things are going in Reading"? Dom: "We all need
to help one another out."
C. Theo:" We don't have public access in No. Reading. No town-run studio.
Comcast, 20-hours/wk. = $9,000.
D. #50173 - Non-Profit. No. Reading has 4,400 participants (which is close to
Reading's 5,000).
E. No. Reading would like copies of contract appendices if allowed - they have
the main body, which Dom indicated is confidential
F. Some engineering will come into play as people building McMansions want
hook up. 150' is the standard drop; they (contractors?) are asking that this
figure be extended to 250'. "What is the strain relief on the wire at such a
length?!"
III. The World Computer Exchange
A. T. Mottl knows Exec on Harvard faculty. Developed computer re-use
program. Collection points at Brighton, Boston. First came to Tom's
attention through a church-related discussion. "Could/should we collect it at
DPW?
B. Tom has emailed the Exchange and will update at our next meeting
IV. "Telephone/ Internet do not have to share information; "Not be a rubber stamp."
V. Next meeting - John to email proposed date
a. Agreed that each member responsible for interface with Town bodies - ask for
input for TTAC tasks and update at our next meeting
