Those present included: Cathy Kosta, Sandy Michaud, Jane Fiore, Dale Merrill, Dave Bryant, Dave Stamatis, Michael Lucey, Sara Heaney, Leone, Sullivan, Mary Williams and John Costigan. Excused: Tenley Hart, Bill Carrick, Suzie Kelley and Rev. Jean Russo-Parks, Marc Alterio Absent: David LiBassi, Melissa Pucci Minutes of December 17, 1998 were read and approved 7:0:0 2 absensions David Bryant has resigned from the committee after many years of positive input and hard work. We will miss him and wish him well. Reports: Youth Risk Behavior Survey: John Costigan and Sandy Michaud have had conversation with parents regarding survey. Positive response. Concerns remain over the suicide figures. The results will be placed on the Homepage soon! Sandy requested a resume on Pam Cantor and Jackson Katz, speakers at the April 10 Violence prevention summit. Jane will send copies. Drug Free Week Planning Committees: Health Fair - Field House, March 11, 1999 3:30 PM (set-up) Fair 4-7:30 PM. Break down 7:30 PM. tables, exhibitors, performers, room reservation, free juice, pizza, hear van, Fire Safe House, Battery car from light Dept., State police seat belt crash demo and fifty other exhibitors are coming. Leone has secured "Johnny the K", Reading Gymnastic will also do a demonstration as well as YMCA and Reading • Leone has secured a stage for the field house • Jane has the tables from the town clerk • Leone will publize Johnny the K with posters and articles beginning February 23 (4:30-5:15. He will set up at 3 PM. • Free family skate tickets will be distributed at the fair. • Dave Stamatis will order 45 pizzas cut into 12 slices from Capri to be deliver at 5:30. • Atlantic is donating juice and.water • Cup,napkins and gloves have been purchased • Leone will check with Booster's club regarding the food service license. • Food will be serviced 5:30 - 6 • Bicycle drawing will be made at 6:30 PM • The drawing will be from two groups. Entry is card with name school and grade on the reverse side. The flier will be distributed through the schools after Feb. vacation and in the newspapers as an advertisement running three days just prior to the fair. • Fifty 4 exhibitors will be present at the fair. • Peerleaders and athletes will be asked to help set up and break down. • Mike Lucey will call Don Young for photo of his children with the Bicycles at the public library. Sandy will purchase the bicycles and helmets. She will also call Deirdre Henley for permission to place the bikes at the library for one month. Free Family Skate - Burbank Arena, Sunday, March 14, 1999 6 PM - 8 PM. All skaters who enter free must have a ticket. Leone and Health Dept. will have an information table. Tickets will be sent to all council members. Sparky the firedog and McGruff will be at the rink. The Drug Free Banner will be hung. We will ask if it can be hung over the center of the ice. There will also be an advertisement in both papers with a coupon for free skate within the ad. Bill, John, Jane, and Leone will be at the Family Skate. John secured the ice with Ed Peduta for no fee. Talent Show - Thursday, March 18, 1999 6 PM - 9 PM. RMHS auditorium and cafeteria have been reserved. No one is chairman of this sub-committee. Jeanne Thomases will be the director and accompany the vocalists. 12 of the eighteen acts have answered verbally "yes" and have been sent confirmation letters. The remaining six acts will be each individually called be council members: • Leone - Caitlin Thurnaurer mother Maureen • Mike - Susan Roy LaPierre Dance Studio • Sara - Rebecca Shor • Jane - David Bunten • Cathy -Creative Arts - Joanne Tedesco • Sandy - Parker Middle School Jazz Band Each council member will call Jane with answer from the individual act. The council member will mail the confirmation letter if the act agrees to perform. Dave Bunten has agreed to allow us to use his sound system. Lighting still needs operator. Jane will call Greg Mendell. Dave Stamatis will be backstage in charge of curtain. Mike Lucey and Dale Merrill will help back stage. Senior class will be responsible for intermission Suzie and Drama club will be ushers John and Jane with Jeanne will be responsible for the program.
