P CALL TO ORDER - 7:48 MEMBERS PRESENT - Sandy Michaud, Karyn Storti, Bob Brown, Matt Edson.(faje) E) Gary Nihan, Alexandra Rowen, Jane Fiore (Staff Liaison) MEMBERS EXCUSED Bill Carrick, Mark Staniul MEMBERS ABSENT Dale Merrill, Lisa DiTrapano MINUTES - Minutes for January approved PUBLIC INPUT - none OLD BUSINESS - No meting held March 2nd - lack of quorum Internet Safety program at Parker was well attended and appropriate -School Report - Cookies containing marijuana (each being made by many to make. "pin- pointing" the source difficult) are being sold in the school for $20 each - Drinking getting worse in High School - good kids getting drunk on weekends - more than five coming to school dances drunk - 2000/2001 survey showed that 35% of 7th and 8th graders used/experimented with alcohol -Discussion - Risk Behavior Survey - objections, results not believed, less response than to academic survey. Try conducting survey again next year, prepare well - Decision making programs, tools, consequences. Grant funding -Membership- Ellen Vickery Will likely replace Alexandra as school member of SAPAC - Consequence .of large number of members with membership terminating in 2004 will be considered at future meetings - Letter from Bill Carrick apologizing for missing meetings. Consensus of members present: Encourage Bill to retain his membership. - John Russo is no longer on the School Board, therefor no longer a SAPAC member. Jane has contacted Pat Schettini to ask the School Board to appoint a replacement NEW BUSINESS • Programs - "Dear Lisa" program is planned for the High School. Conducting the program in the evening for adults at $2 and contribution by Winchester Hospital will be considered. - The "Drugs & Alcohol, Perilous Choices, Dangerous Consequences" program planned for April at Coolidge has been postponed until May 4th due to a Jewish holiday -Starting Time - Motion made, seconded and approved 5-0 with one abstention, to change the starting time for SAPAC meetings from 7:30 to 7:00, on a trial basis. -Name Change - Changing the name of the SAPAC will be added to the next meeting's agenda ADJOURNED 9:12 PM Respectfully submitted, Bob Brown
