Learning is the acquiring of skill and knowledge behavior skills are the life skills that should be included in the school curriculum. Lack of money and time in the school schedule are given as objections but other school districts manage it. Should go with programs that give results; should provide tools that enable decision making. If Reading schools ranked lower than the State average in MCAS scores, action would be taken, similar attention should be given to Youth Risk Survey scores. PROGRAMS - the workshop planned for May 4th at Coolidge on Drugs and Alcohol, has been postponed until the Fall - A program, "Dear Lisa", on violent domestic relations, will be considered further in the fall. Also possible sources of contributions to offset the cost of the program. NAME CHANGE - Discussion: name change to Health Advisory Council, suggested last month, e-mail from Peter Hechenbleikner Problems: Obtaining grants without a "Health Committee" and loss of focus on substance abuse Consensus was that "Health Advisory Council" was too broad and, that perhaps a separate health committee would be more appropriate STARTING TIME - The meeting starting time of 7:00 will continue until June and then be reviewed NEXT MEETING.- May 20 ADJOURNED - 8:30 PM Respectfully submitted, Bob Brown
