MINUTES OF MEETING October 21, 2004
CALL TO ORDER 7:25 PM
MEMBERS PRESENT - Karyn Storti, Bob Brown, Gary Nihan, Bill Carrick,
Matt Edson, Jane Fiore (Staff Liaison)
MEMBERS EXCUSED - Lisa DiTrapano
MEMBERS ABSENT - Corey Porter, Mark Staniul, Carl McFadden

INTRODUCTION of SCHOOL COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE - Carl McFadden

PUBLIC INPUT - None
OLD BUSINESS
- No one attended or represented SAPAC at the RCTV Organization Night
- Gary Nihan explained effort required to obtain grants and their status and use
- a consultant has been hired to assist grant writing
- the proposed curriculum for grades 3 - 8 will focus on decision making
- grants will allow consideration of programs by "Family First" as well as
"Project Alliance"
- two days of training are planned for teachers of proposed curriculum - 1
middle school, 1 elementary school. Visitors can sit in.
- Discussion Included:
- Programs previously discontinued due to lack of funds may be reinstated
the committee expressed its appreciation for Gary's efforts and
presentation
- Jane will write a letter to the Reading School Superintendent and his
assistant expressing SAPAC's appreciation for Gary's effort
- The date for the program "Drugs and Alcohol: Perilous Choices, Dangerous
Consequences" has been tentatively set for January. 13th or 20th with
alternative dates considered 11,12,18,19
NEXT MEETING - November 17 ( Our regular meeting night would be the l 8th, but
Town Meeting is scheduled for that date)
