HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-02-17 Substance Abuse Prevention Advisory Council Minutes-V SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION ADVISORY COUNCIL ; C" ERK MINUTES OF MEETING February 17,2005 t G, CALL TO ORDER - 7:10 PM MEMBERS PRESENT - Karyn Storti, Bob Brown, Bill Carrick, ZL5 27 A Carl McFadden, Mark Stanuil, Jane Fiore (Staff Liaison) MEMBERS EXCUSED - Lisa DiTrapano,Gary Nihan, Corey Porter MEMBERS ABSENT - Matt Edson MINUTES - Minutes for January, 2005: approved - Minutes for December,2004: tabled REPORT_ ON JANUARY 20, 2005 Project Alliance Presentation - Discussion included: ®R Consider giving presentation to school committee ElConcerns of parents at meeting ®R Apathy of people unless there is a known local problem ❑ Consider short pitches at scheduled school and other meetings to keep SAPAC "on the burner" MEETINGS - Mx March 9 - Parent Meeting - Wellness Grant - nutrition and obesity. ElMarch 14 - special School Board brief presentation of SAPAC by Karyn, Bill and Mark ElMarch 17 - Regular SAPAC meeting Jane Fiore will procure the 17 minute video All Jammed Up and write letters to Arnold Rubin and Paul Duffy inviting them to our March 17th meeting for a discussion of Alcohol sales at the Atlantic. She will also write a letter to PTO presidents advising of the availability of SAPAC speakers at their meetings, PUBLIC INPUT - None OTHER - M Student Representative - We still have no student representative on the SAPAC. Carl McFadden will obtain two by our next meeting. ®R The Reading Chronicle would be of greater service to the community if they reported more of the facts in criminal and medical substance abuse cases.
