Meeting Minutes - May 10, 2000
52
Members Present: Bob Brown, Jean Krogh, Joan Hoyt, Lynda Zarrow, Jennifer Culbert,
Susan Giacaione, Ted McIntire, Anne Mark (Fonner Member)
1. The meeting was called to order at 7:34 p.m. The minutes of the March meeting were
approved with revisions. 4-0-1.
2. Members discussed filling the four positions that will be available at the end of June
of this year. These names came up as possibilities: Linda King, Nancy Ortiz, Steve
Austin, Ann Mark and Kay Clark. New members will have to be sworn in by
July 1, 2000 in order to have a quorum at official meetings. Ted said that he would
be willing to meet unofficially on the second Wednesday of each month if new
members were not available so that issues could still be addressed and discussions
could still take place.
3. Reading's Hidden Treasure is closer to being completed thanks to Michael
O'Halloran and Lynda Zarrow. It was agreed that each member would take a copy of
the drafted copy home, proof-read it and get their corrections or comments to Ann by
the first week of June. Ted would like to distribute the booklet to Reading residents
in August.
4. Sharon Kishida will be attending the next meeting and Ted suggested that we focus
on the PAYT issue. Linda read a few articles from various publications which will go
to the library. There was discussion about condo recycling that had come up at Town
Meeting recently. The idea of further research and the comnnunication of information
to Reading residents of PAYT information may be helpful for future d override.
5. Ted's Report: There was some discussion about Town Meeting. The Shed is filled
with bulbs for Global to pick up. EMRIP is not going to snake it. The requirements
are very high. PAYT would help meet the requirements which would be beneficial to
the Town of Reading.
6. Staffing: Lynda will make up some handouts to pass out to Reading residents at the
upcoming Hazardous Waste Collection on May 20, 2000, asking anyone interested in
becoming a SWAC member to contact the Town Hall.
7. Other Business: Ted will ask Sharon Kishida to bring someone to the next meeting to
talk about PAYT.
8. Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
