2. Reading's Hidden Treasure: Ted spoke on quotes for printing ranging from
$3700-7300. Time frame for printing not yet known. Contract may be awarded
week of January 15. We will have about 10k copies.
3. Publicizing booklet: Perhaps article in local papers, or a brave committee
member will appear on `Ask Town Manager' program on local cable. Suggestion
made to have Selectmen receive a pre-publication copy and arrange with Town
Manager to get on agenda for a Board meeting to present it and inform them
about it. Bob and Mary Ellen offered to do presentation. Keith offered to create
flyers and posters when we are sure of a completion date for book - he will obtain
the logo on a disk from Ted.. Discussed how years back Editor Paul Feeley wrote
his own article about the first book created - will try to get him to do this again.
Anne to phone Paul Feeley and Nadine (of Advocate) to get them interested to
write an article. Will wait for notice on Cable Bulletin board til we know more
exact date of booklet out. Joan will handle that. Ted will e-mail all of us if
` anything becomes ready. Ted will also supply a list of current names/addresses
and e-mails to all committee members.
4. Ted's Report: Compost area open January 6 - but not many people showed up.
Discussed selling of stickers for compost and depot. Regarding CRT grant - Ted
attending meeting on January 18.
5. Town Web-site: Most members did check this site out prior to meeting. Changes
are made in Ted's office. He will add new permit info to web-site. By next
meeting we will supply more edits to Ted. Any immediate changes one sees
should be reported to Anne. On the web-site there is a place for questions
specifically about the site.
6. The Local History Room at the Library contains info that is interesting to those on
the committee and others. All are invited to check it out.
7. Earth Day: Joan went through her contacts i.e., Campfire/Stream Team and these
groups have planned nothing yet. Boy Scouts possibly doing a hike. Joan will
keep trying to find out details. Events can be even near the date of Earth Day.
8. We discussed the sale of Mercury Thermometers. Anne talked about article from
Boston Globe pertaining to sale of such. Bob attending meeting at Ogden Martin
