Members Present: Keith Becker, Mary Ellen Becker, Bob Brown,

1. There were. no minutes to be! read f.-om--.Fgbruary il, 2003.
They will be presented at a later meeting of SWAC. -
2. Michael O'Halloran reported that the DPW has given out
' :the last red recyolin' g:~bin- ans.=:.that,- due to .-preseht budget
eonstrainta, no more will be available in the near future.
3• We discussed PAYT°pdssibilities for the Town., with
the dual objective of increasing recycling tonnage and
making additional ironies for Reading. Bob thought that
this committee should not be involved in a PAYT project
since he feels that cost avoidance through recycling is
our primary objective. The usual goal of recycling is a
break-even one.
4. Bob reported that he has invited representatives from
trash hauler Atlantic North to our April meeting to
discuss recycling of plastics numbered 3 - 7.
5. Bob reported that the Reading website describes additional
options for CRT pickup, perhaps by another vendor..
6. Earth Day projects are.underway:.
a) Mary Ellen has reserved a table at the Library
for her Trash to Treasure Life Cycle display,
b) Bob has contacted an old friend to help with
the running of the continuous tape of Melrose's
recycling story;
c) Susan has dropped off at Eaton and Killam
several hundred paper bags for Earth Day
illustrations; Judith Mitchel has done the same
at Barrows School. Keith wants the CHRONICLE to
photograph and caption . a picture of the
children illustrating the bags. Susan will
attend to this.
7. Bob reported that some parts of the U.S,. have single
stream recycling. We will ask atlantic North about this
in Spring 2004 when Reading's trash contract will be up
for renewal.
8. April 5 is the Textiles Collection at the DPW garage,
from 8 till 2.
