HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004-06-23 Solid Waste Advisory Committee MinutesER M Ar Solid Waste Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - June %3 2004 2007 i UN 15 A 1. 4 2 Members Present: Mary Ellen Becker, Bob Brown, Susan Giacalone, Lois MacElhiney, Michael O'Halloran (Staff Liaison), Greg Russo, Dave Williams Bob Brown formally informed committee he is not re-enlisting as a member. Bob had informed Ted he would attend upcoming Covanta meeting with Ted's approval. May minutes were discussed and corrected for further accuracy. Minutes were accepted as amended by Mary Ellen and seconded by Dave. 2. Michael O'Halloran distributed stats on rubbish tonnage. 3. The committee will be electing new officers at the next meeting. 4, September meeting is to be changed to a tentative date of September 29 due to Conflict of Interest in Open Meeting Seminar being held. 5. Old Business: School Recycling - Lois will make up a prototype and contact Solid Waste person in schools as well as the Superintendent. Possibly November will be the month to go into schools to do informational sessions on recycling at the Kindergarten level and do presentation. Will try to include reward of some kind. Someone will try to contact our hauler about education on this. It is not yet decided who this will be. 6. There is been no update to report on Trash Rules & Regulations revisions. 7. Dave contacted Assessor's office about the apartment complexes and the number of units they have. Apartment/Condos with one, two, or three units are picked up. 8. PAYT Workshops - Bob recommends the attendance of these workshops, as they are very informational should the town ever be facing implementation of a PAYT program in the future. 9. Upcoming event: Folk Festival - Lowell - Good family event that actually recycles trashed items. This year the head of State of Pennsylvania Recycling Efforts will monitor these efforts at the fair. 10. Dave informed us of a Vendor Fair on October 26. Staples also as electric recycling program but ends on July 11. 11. Next meeting held on July 28. Meeting adjourned at 9:20 p.m. 12. Minutes prepared by Susan Giacalone.
