Guest: Bob Brown 1. The meeting was called to order at 7:40. Minutes from Dec. were accepted as amended unanimously. 2. No report from Ted. He was at the Finance Committee meeting. 3. Old Business a. Search for new members continues. Greg suggested creating a brochure to post at the rack outside the meeting room. He also suggested we look in to business' cards to have to distribute at events like the upcoming Friends and Family day. b. School recycling The effort to increase school recycling is still in progress. Copies of the "School Recycling" brochure were sent to the elementary school Principles. The committee will invite John Thiffault (Superintendent of Facilities) to attend a meeting. We hope to have a program in place by September. c. New trash rules were reviewed. d. The DEP recycling video is again expected for viewing at the next meeting. e. Earth Day is April 22, 2005. Home Depot/Jordan's were asked if they would provide a place to do a table. Both stores do not allow any groups to use space in their stores. We discussed other options. Susan is going to contact Atlantic Supermarket to see if we might put a table up on Sat. April 23 with composting information. 4. New Business a. Reading's Friends and Family Day is scheduled for Sat., June 25, 2005. Susan will attend the next planning meeting on April 7. A table has been requested. We will arrange to have a cover this year. Assorted recycling/composting/solid: waste information will be displayed. Mary Ellen will look into environmentally friendly balloons to attract attention. b. The state DEP is sponsoring a "Healthy Lawns & Landscapes" seminar in Andover on April 2 from 9-11. Call Joyce Ringleb (978) 475-3490 for directions and information. c. Mass. DEP SWAC meeting in Boston on 3/24 will be revising the Solid Waste Master Plan. The information the David received on the material to be covered was 17 pages long. 5. Next meeting is April 27. Meeting adjourned 8:50. to
