1. Call to Order
Chairperson Robinson called the meeting to order at 7:28 p.m. He reviewed the agenda for the
evening. The committee addressed the donation and the approval of minutes item on the agenda.
II. Executive Session
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mr. Michaud, to adjourn to
executive session and to return back to open session On a roll call vote, the motion carries
5-0-0.
Chairperson Robinson reconvened the School Committee Open Session Meeting at 8:05 p.m.

No public input this evening.

2. Liaison
L Mr. Robinson reported on the following:
a. A grants seminar that he attended at Congressman Tierney's Office
b. The Staff Opening Day which will be held tomorrow.
2. Mr. Caruso reported on the following:
a. The athletic captain's conference that was held at the high school by
Athletic Director Phil Vaccaro.

3. Superintendent's Report
• Superintendent Schettini reported on the following:
1. The Reading Summer Enrichment Academy
2. The November Learning Conference that many administrators attended in
July.
3. The Expanding Boundaries of Teaching and Learning Course that is being
conducted in the school district this year for 36 teachers and administrators.
4. The Governor's Task Force 21St Century Learning Skills public hearing that
he attended last week.
5. The first day of school for teachers tomorrow.
C. Continued Business
1. Building Project Update (1)
Scott Dunlap of AI3 and Dave Capaldo of Design Partnerships gave an update of the
RMHS Building Project. They discussed the following:
• The sitework surrounding the high school
• The flooring replacement on "Main Street"
• The reconstruction of the outdoor track
• Change orders associated with the outdoor track
It was reemphasized by Superintendent Schettini that the contractor that is currently
working on the track is not the contractor that originally worked on the track
D. New Business
1. Chairperson Robinson would like the PR subcommittee to come up with a proposal for
the September 24th School Committee Meeting on School Committee Office Hours.
2. Mr. Michaud read a public disclosure filed with the Town Clerk's office announcement
that involved his company, Filament Design Studios and a bid for services with the
Reading Coalition Against Substance Abuse.

2. Approval of Minutes
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mr. Michaud, to approve
the open session minutes of July 14, 2008 Motion approved 5-0-0.
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mr. Michaud, to approve
the open session minutes of July 23, 2008 Motion approved 5-0-0.
3. Bids and Donations
The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mrs Gibbs, to accept
donation the Coolidge PTO to support the purchase of instructional technology as outlined
in the Superintendent's memorandum dated AuLyust 20, 2008 Motion carries 5-0-0.

The committee voted on a motion by Mr. Caruso, seconded by Mrs Webb, to adjourn Motion
carries 5-0-0.
IV. Future Business
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
