Mr. Cameron opened the meeting by suggesting that we review a number of the open policies.
In Policy # 1, Page 5 - Mr. Herlihy asked if we could change the title of IX A from Real Estate to
Real Estate Brokers. Also in the paragraph to replace realtors with Real Estate Brokers. In IX G -
Mr. Herlihy asked if we should remove "G" - Halloween party so we aren't committed to it. Ms.
Antonio responded that at beginning of IX the last sentence of the introduction states that the
"programs listed are subject to an annual budget approval and time availability within each fiscal
year." If for some reason we couldn't do the party, then we wouldn t. Also in G the word local
will be replaced with service territory. In L. Scouts program, the commas will be removed.
Policy # 3 changes were accepted.
Mr. Cameron suggested that we next review the policies in which we had legal counsel review.
In Policy # 6, there were some grammatical and typographical changes that were reviewed. Also
in Section IV C. the language addressing notice of a drug conviction was changed to "within 5
days" according to the law instead of the 10 days. Also under VII Sick Leave plan, the
Professional union will be added to the policy.
In Policy #7 there were no additional changes needed.
In Policy #15 the grammatical changes were reviewed. Also, in II Definitions, #2 was deleted.
Other changes were approved. Mrs. Antonio informed group that in the fall. we would be
conducting our retraining and distribute the updated policy.
In Policy #16 the grammatical changes and typos were approved. Discussion was held on III A.
Discipline for Policy Violations and RMLD attorney recommendations will be drafted. Mr.
Herlihy asked if we should send copies of the updated policies to Commissioner Kearns since she
is a labor attorney.
In Policy #20 grammatical changes were approved. Proposed language will be updated to reflect
changes in the Mass. Maternity Leave Act and also the creation of the Small Necessities Leave
Act.
In Policy #21 discussion centered around the need to update the policy now that middle
managers joined a union. Mr. Herlihy wondered whether the few people that were not in the
union should be given their own employment contract. Mr. Cameron stated that we need to
update the policy to reflect the people that it represents now. He stated that other employees
_ should be referred to their respective contract.
Meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m. on a motion by Mr. Soli and seconded by Mr. Herlihy.
