Time: 8:30 a.m.
Location: General Manager's Conference Room
Attendees: RMLD Board of Commissioners Kearns and O'Neill
Mr. Cameron
Purpose: Strategic Planning Subcommittee
Commissioner O'Neill brought the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m.
Ms. O'Neill asked if the RMLD had a mission statement?
Mr. Cameron answered "no".
Ms. O'Neill asked how the Department planned large projects?
Mr. Cameron replied by discussing such projects as the removal of the Lynnfield Center
substation, the upgrade at the Gaw substation as well as continuing the remote meter reading
program.
Ms. O'Neill asked where could a RMLD customer find an explanation of their bill?
Mr. Cameron answered RMLD customers can find an explanation of their bill online at RMLD's
website and it was in the "In Brief" newsletter last year.
Ms. Kearns asked if other municipals have a strategic plan? Ms. Kearns said that she would like
Mr. Cameron to look into that. Ms. Kearns directed Mr. Cameron to find out if other municipals
nationally or regionally have strategic plans.
Ms. O'Neill asked if the Board had engaged in the strategic planning process in the past?
Mr. Cameron replied that the Board on two occasions did attempt to come up with a strategic
plan, but due to divergent views the process was never finished.
Ms. O'Neill mentioned a consultant that is on the American Public Power Association website
who facilitates strategic planning.
The Strategic Subcommittee would like to meet at the end of February. The Subcommittee would
like to have the material requested available at that meeting.
Ms. O'Neill made a motion to adjourn at 9:45 a.m. seconded by Ms. Kearns.
