Town Hall, Conference Room READING, MASS.
June S, 2006
'1001 JUN 12 A 1I 42,
Present: Patty Chinetti, Lyn Whyte, Carol Patterson, Paula Koppel (Observer), Marcia Dresser
(Observer), (student observers Meredith and Tammy).
o Meeting was called to order at 6:07pm
0 2 Regis College student nurses attended to satisfy their required "Health Policy" hour.
(They found the meeting posted on the Town's website).
o Dawn had provided 5 handouts - we discussed the letter to the editor
o Lynn shared data gathered from the Reading Fire Department regarding emergency
calls/911 to both senior housing complexes Tannerville (80 units) and Cedar Glen (150
units). Paula suggested part of the Nurse Advocate's role be to sit with the RFD to
determine who needs assistance with something other than medical and who actually
needs medical assistance.
o In preparation for the Task Force's presentation to the Hospital Trust Fund, Paula
reviewed our slide presentation and requested feedback.
0 Lynn will call Reading Fire Fighter Paul Gaurino to seek more specific data on "need
based calls."
o Marcia and Paula - in reference to the language we use to describe the Nurse Advocate
and suggested that just saying "nurse" might help avoid confusion.
o It is important to the Task Force that the nurse who is selected have experience in
working with elders.
o Carol - Reading Response is a business - this gap that needs to be filled could
conceivably obtain more clients for the Reading Response provider agency.
o Task Force decided to withhold "possibility opportunities" slide for the HTF
presentation.
o Suggestion to create an additional slide demonstrating that the NA position fits with the
Hospital Trust Fund donors intentions.
