Minutes The minutes of the January 12th' meeting were unanimously approved. (Dubois/Storti) The minutes of the February 9th meeting were unanimously approved as amended. (Hutchinson/Curtis) Financial Report (R. Urell) • Year to date 2/26/09 report distributed and reviewed. • Second and final year of "Teens & Tweens" grant to expend. • Second distribution from the State Aid grant has been disbursed through the MBLC. • Received grant as a Library of Excellence for the Live Wires program. Statistics (R. Urell) Report not yet available. Administration is working on a new format to present information effectively. Foundation (R. Curtis) • Thursday, 5/7/09 is the date for program with author Mary McGarry Morris. • Foundation expressed interest in a possible role re: the building assessment. • Presidents of the Foundation and Friends of the RPL met to discuss use of resources. S. Axelson, J. Brzezenski, L. Freeman, R. Urell attended. Friends of the RPL (C. Dubois) • House tour: May 3rd, 2009. The 1st Sunday in May (Sunday before Mother's Day). • Six houses confirmed. 350 tickets will be available. • Planned as a walking tour on Summer Avenue and Woburn Street. • $7,020. earned from the House Tour ad book. • Antique program with Skinner's representative was well attended. • Travel photo promotion deadline. Photos will be judged and displayed at the library. Budget Discussion: • Trustees will attend the FinCom meeting at town hall on Wednesday 3/11/09. • Meeting will be posted. w~. • Discussion of effect of budget cuts and priorities. • Prior to meeting, Trustees will send FinCom members articles on library usage and community priorities. Director's Report (R. Urell) • Ten new window replacements in lower level, including old book drop room. • Harold Bond will do selected readings from Shakespeare (Sunday, 3/15/09). - • Trustees were asked if library should make a special morning opening on Thursday December 24th for four hours beginning at 9, since normal hours on Thursdays are 1-9. Library policy is to close at 1 on December 24th. Trustees voted against opening early so library will not open on Thursday December 24th. • Patrons now receive courtesy notices by email to alert them of items due. in two days. Options available to renew or return items. • Brazilian jazz RPL Friends program (Sunday, 3/8/09). Dorota presented a draft of an updated policy re: Meeting/Conference Room policies and rental (materials distributed for vote at the next meeting). Trustee Items • Selectmen and Town Manager are meeting with legislators re: Federal Stimulus package. • Legislative Breakfast (3/6/09). • Reading Cable Television did not report Library late snow opening. • There will be no library open house this year. • 25' Anniversary display in main hall. • As a result of recent ethics training by the town, the Trustees reviewed open meeting laws and email use. Ruth will request again to set up email addresses for Library Trustees through town server.
