Statistical Report

• Review of statistical reports
• Dorota will prepare a chart comparing total circulation for current FY vs. prior FY
Foundation (R. Curtis)
• Appreciation night held on Friday, November 13th; excellent attendance by community members,
Reading Library staff and all Trustees
• Honored guests: Robert and Nathalie Nordstrand; Julieann Thurlow, President of Reading
Cooperative Bank; Beth Klepeis
• Annual appeal letters will be sent just after Thanksgiving
• $5000 given to the library for audiovisual equipment in the Meeting Room (a formal note of thanks
will be sent)
Friends of the RPL (C. Dubois)
• House Tour planning committee has secured 4 houses, with 2 houses pending
• Anticipate meeting the goal for 8 houses total
Director's Report (R. Urell)
• Distributed packet of notes from the suggestion box
• Green customer service cards available at the Children's desk, Circulation and Reference to
continue to measure customer service
• In response to a special patron request, Meeting Room policy discussed
• Handout of articles about libraries in the news
• Lorraine Barry met with Senator Tisei; Ruth visited Representative Jones
• Ruth attended a meeting about Regional funding at the NMRLS office
• Discussion of State aid; services offered by the Regional offices; continuing education, etc.
• Update on progress of energy audit of the facility: lights upgraded and improvement noted
• Three trees were planted in conjunction with the Celebration Garden
• Library now open on Sunday afternoons; turn out has been very good
• Mass Memories Road Show was very successful (10/24)
• Job Training series had 29 attendees, program is growing (Elaine Olson facilitator)
Budget
• Distributed drafts of options for FY11 budget including level services; 0% increase; 1% reduced
(as instructed by Town Manager's office)
• Qualitative assessment of the impact of budget options discussed
• Trustees support step raises for library staff in line with Town classification plan approved FY09
Building Evaluation and Recommendation Report
• Finance Committee invited the Trustees to present building information at the Fincom meeting
on Wednesday, November 18, 8pm, Town Hall Conference Room
• Discussion to propose representative to participate in a Municipal Building Committee to
advocate for the building project; Vicki Yablonsky will represent the library
• Trustees recommend formation of a library task force to advocate for the building project,
comprised of representatives from the Trustees, Foundation, Friends and the community
Adjourn
