Meeting called to order by Margaret Soli, President.
Bob S. distributed letter received in Police Dept. and information on public safety.
Minutes of the September meeting amended and approved. November minutes amended and
approved.
Discussion took place around the following for the renewal of the "Dialogues:
a. train new facilitators one evening or Sat. morning in late January or early February. 4 hour
trainings for inexperienced, 2 hour trainings for experienced facilitators. Use facilitators as a
committee to help with event.
b. Hold kick-off meeting on March 6th . Frank can get a speaker. Participants will sign up for
dialogue sessions at this meeting.
c. Dialogues themselves: 4 consecutive weeks, 2 hours a week. Offer at variety of times for
maximum attendance.
d. Wrap-up meeting bringing groups together for summary and planning.
e. Space: Emily M. will investigate Peter Sanborn Place, Banks, Light Dept., Police Dept.,
Town Hall, Schools, Senior Center, and Library.
f. PR: Ask the Selectmen to issue a proclamation to be read in churches in the community the
weekend before the first meeting; article in newspaper; cable.
g. Find out who was on the committee with Jean Russo-Parks for the last Dialogues.
h. Possible attendees: DASC members, Superintendent of Schools, Police, City employees,
local businesses.
Theme: The events of Sept. 11 and their impact on our community.
Phil Maher will ask about facilitators at St. Agnes.
Robin D. will contact Amy Fidele about having the High School group Unity participate.
Emily M. will arrange for rooms for meetings.
Reading Police officers who have been to New York Ground Zero can be present for the wrap-up
session.
Terry J. will attend the Dec. 18th meeting of the Selectman to give progress report (8:10 p.m.).
Will ask them to issue proclamation for the Dialogues.
Formed sub-committee for Dialogue planning: Bob S., Robin D., Terry J. and Emily M. Group
will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 18`x` at 7.00 p.m., Police Station. All HRAC committee members
are invited to attend.
Martin Luther King Day Breakfast will be held on Mon., Jan. 21St at the Baptist church in
Reading. Morning will include choir, liturgical dance, and elementary school artwork. Emily
M. will do draft of flyer on HRAC to be available at breakfast.
Phil M. distributed questions for the Clergy for us to think about. Will be discussed at future
meeting. May be appropriate to give questions to school counselors and Wilma Frazer, METCO
Coordinator.
