1. Tim Biller, who is working on his Eagle Scout project, is going ahead on the
web site project. Ideas: mission statement, template, historical register, inventory,
links, meeting times, calendar, and resources. He is now approved by the Boy Scout
Council.
2. 193 High St. The owners (Andrea and Joe Ryan) want to tear out his main roof
and change the interior of the house. The foot print of the house would remain the
same, but the exterior line of the house would change. The commission will make a
site inspection Friday, September 10, at 5:30.
3. Peter Heikenbleichner came in to tell us that the town got a $50,000 matching
emergency preservation grant from the state to repair the senior center roof.
4. The Board of Selectmen is reviewing a by-law that has been brought before
them tonight about mansionization in Reading.
5. Virginia makes a motion to let the commission pay for up to three members to
go to a preservation conference in Worcester. Approved.
6. Members went through the house at 3 Avon St. The members found a very old
beam acting as a chimney support, dating it back to the 17th century. Article has gone
out to the Advocate and will go out to the Chronicle.
7. New owners of the house, Bob Edgett and Jackie Rand, at 379 Haverhill St.
have moved in.
8. Dave Barrett, developer, bought the barn on upper Pearl St.
9. Party at 51 Mill St. to celebrate the purchase of the nearby land. It is Saturday
Sept. 11 at 5:00.
10. The town needs a new name for a new street off grove street just beyond the
Foster-Emerson House. Virginia suggests using the name Foster. The Col.
suggested Foster Circle. The commission approved.
11. Clay took a tour of the Foster-Emerison House. It will be painted red.
Adjourned: 9:10. Some members attended the Board of Selectmen Meeting.
Approved as amended Louise Sandberg
