Wilbar Hoxie 1. Called to order: 7:40 2. Treasurers report: attached 3. Web page: Mark Cardono, Roberta Sullivan, and Louise Sandberg met informally with Tim Biller to organize the new RHC web page. The page will be linked to the town page and the actual fabrication will be done by Tim and other members of Boy Scout Troop 702. The page will include the commission's mission statement, times and place of meetings, activities, history, members' names with date of office, calendar, and successes. Also included will be an email template, a guest book, a place for FAQs, town history, maps, and the entire inventory of historic properties. The scouts will be taking pictures of the properties with both a digital camera and 35 mm camera and images will appear with each property in the web site. 4. The next step to complete the needs for the archives is a new printer.. 5. -At Wood End: The printing needs to go out to bid. 3500 have already been sold. Storage of the books is a concern. At the original printer (Wakefield Item) the cost would be $18 per volume for 1000 volumes. They sell for $30. The price goes down in increments of 500 volumes. Clay made a motion that the Historical Commission approve a project of reprinting At Wood End to the amount of 1500 copies. Col. Hoxie seconded the motion. Motion approved. 5-0-0 Clay's second motion was that the Commission make a request of the Preservation Trust make a request for approximately $23,000 for reprinting At Wood End for 1500 volumes including $1000 for marketing. Seconded by Roberta. Motion approved 5-0-0. 6. Senior Center Roof: Clay went,,to the State House to represent the RHC when the moeny was presented to the town for the new slate roof on the Senior Center. Photos were taken. 7. Preservation awards: David Barrett (32 John St.) Tom Devaney (89 Main St.); Friends of the Reading Historical Preservation; Town Meeting (Foster-Emerson House); Sidelinkers (Foster-Emerson); the Reading Public Library; Pearl Street home; 379 Haverhill Street. Decision tabled to the next meeting. 8. Antiques appraisal: Kazinsky has not returned Virginia's cads. Tentatively scheduled the first Sunday in May. 9. No new decision made on organizing the papers of Foster-Emerson house. Sharlene Santo got the deed which hs been sent to Mass. Historical. 10. Reading Chronicle special millennium section: the commission members have decided on Reading Chronicle issues for the special section. 11. Col. Hoxie brought a legal notice concerning the Meadow Brook Golf Course printed in the Boston Globe. The Golf Course will be excavating and will need a permit from the DEP for tier 2 classification.
