Wilbar Hoxie Roberta Sullivan Jerry Kaper Mark Cardono 1. Minutes for Jan. 7, 2000 approved as amended. 2. Treasurer's report attached. Purchases include printer, cabinet, and archival supplies. Roberta asks for approval of the purchase of those supplies for the amount of $175. Approved. Roberta asked for $100 for more photographic supplies. Virginia suggests that the cost of printing the inventory will be a future expense, although she would not go against the vote. Approved. 3. The printer has been purchased. 5. At Wood End: Roberta said the reprinting of At Wood End is going out to bid. It will be in local papers. The number of books decided was 1500, but the Celebration Trust wants to see the breakdown of cost on increments of 500 copies. Roberta will represent the commission in the bidding process. 6. Archives: The photograph collection is in the new cabinet. The Daniel Pratt collection is in the repository. The datalogger (temp/humidity monitor) was removed in January. There was a flood in the archives on January 24th. There was about an inch of water on the floor. Nothing of consequence was on the floor and there was no significant damage. A pipe burst in an area of the Town Hall which was not being heated. F 7. The millennium newspaper can be laminated for $125. Encapsulation can be tabled till later. 8. Streetscapes: Spence Farms is staying in business one more year. The developer is agreeable to allowing the house to be moved. There is an available lot across the street. Virginia believes the house was built in the 1870s. 9. Preservation Awards: Various members will write thumbnails about the different properties that are being considered. 10. Antiques Appraisal day by Kaminski on May 7th. At Longwood Place again. We need a letter to Kaminski to confirm. 1-4 pm $5 per item, 3 items per individual maximum. We will plan publicity in March at the meeting on the 14th. 11. Virginia, Roberta, and Clay went to a regional meeting of Historical commissions in Danvers. Talk by Chris Skelly from Mass Historical. 12. Virginia recommends we buy the Economics of Historic Preservation by Donovan D. Rypkema. Approved -13. Marion Woods: we have the maps. The conservation commission is planning to apply for grants to develop the area. 4. Street names: names of famous Reading women- Eleanor Bishop, Marion Barclay, Phoebe Hanniford, Lucy Wheaton, Emily Ruggles, Nancy Anderson, 15. New school name: Devidence*, Ipswich river, North woods*, John Brooks, Emerson, Wood End*. Starred names were approved by the commission 16. Virginia will work up a walking tour for Patriot's Day focused on West St. 17.
