Col. Wilbar Hoxie F7 CLERK ,LIN `X G' MASS. Call to order 7:30 PM 2004 DEC -I 2: 31 42 Chute Street: Chris Latham and The Commission reviewed the wording of a new bylaw that will protect stables and carriage houses from demolition by allowing them to be made into a second dwelling on the property. The goal is to get the bylaw on to the warrant for the next Town Meeting. Virginia would like CPDC to cosponsor the bylaw. The wording should be ready for CPDC's next meeting on September 13, 2004. Currently there are at least 5 or 6 stables and carriage houses on the Inventory. The commission needs to look into the exact numbers. There may be other stables and carriage houses that are not on the inventory. The Reading Housing Authority may have a report on all of the stables and carriage houses. Some of the wording to be added will include; the property must be owner occupied, both buildings will be detached single family dwellings, and neither one will become a boarding house, and the stable or carriage house must have been built prior to 1910. Other areas of the bylaw that brought up were whether or not barns are to be included, and how deeds are to be handled. Chris Latham will send the revised bylaw to the Commission for review. Everett Blodgett, Clay Jones enter Pierce Organ Factory: The developer, which is looking into purchasing Pierce Organ Factory to convert to condominiums, said that the building is structurally unsound, and would need a lot of structural work. Sailor Tom's: The ship/house is going to be torn down for a subdivision. The property is not on the Inventory. The owner has told Virginia that the Commission will be allowed to document the building. Virginia suggested that the owner name the street something like Sailor Tom's Way to preserve the history of the area. 7-9 Hamden Street: The property is for sale. Walgreens is looking at buying the property. Depot: The Commission has not looked into the current progression of work. The Commission needs to check the progress out. West Street Historic District: Meeting tonight. 572 Haverhill Street: Virginia recorded both video and audio during the consultant's review of the property. Virginia told owner to send us copy of invoice so that the Commission can pay its portion. 1765 Map: No progress. Miscellaneous: Winchester Historic Commission is looking for help with bylaws to help save historic properties. Next meeting October 5, 2004 An old safe was found in the Superintendent's office, in the High School, which contained lots of old documents. Virginia suggested sending a letter thanking the gentleman who opened the safe and brought the documents to the Town for the Town archives. Adjourned 8:46 RHC Minutes Rhc09072004.doc Page 1 of 1
