Meeting called to order at 7:35 pm in Town Hall Conference Room

• Past Minutes Review - ;.0
-Virginia motioned that Minutes from 29 June be accepted as amended Sharlene sew ded this
motion. Vote: 4-0-0
-Sharlene motioned that Minutes from 3 August be accepted as amended Wilbar seconded this
motion. Vote: 4-0-0
-Wilbar motioned that Minutes from 7 September be accepted as amended Virginia seconded this
motion. Vote: 4-0-0
• Financial Report - no changes
• Carriage House By-law - Virginia relayed that CPDC refused to recommend placing the proposed
carriage house bylaw on Fall Town Meeting warrant and wants to pursue a more comprehensive
plan involving affordable housing. Before the spring town meeting Commission will determine the
actual number of carriage houses in town; starting with a review of the assessors records.
• West St. Historic District Bylaw - will be on the warrant for Fall Town Meeting
• Hamden St.- Wal reens - Virginia explained that the new historic property owner of 7-9 Hamden
Street will likely be seeking demolition permit in the near future to make room for a Walgreens.
• Meadow Brook Golf Club - Received a site plan review for the demolition of a pool house. The
plan includes a new building to replace the old. This building is not on historic inventory so no
action is necessary.
• 505, 519 Main St - Received a site plan review for a new commercial front to the house just north
of Graham Radio. This building is not on historic inventory so no action is necessary.
• Chronicle photo - Mystery picture of men sandbagging railroad tracks was published in the
Reading Chronicle that Bill Brown found referenced in the 1936 Town reports identifying this
photo as Reading men in Lowell helping to protect down town Lowell from a flood. A follow-up
sent to Chronicle for future publication.
• Economic Benefits of Historic Pres. in CO. pamphlet received from Chris Latham for the
commission's reference.
• Sailor Tom's Ship/House, Franklin St. - Zoning hearing regarding design of proposed changes to
property was continued due to it being in an aquifer protection area.
• Depot coffee shy - Wilbar reported that the Depot Coffee Shop still does not appear to be ready
for operation as promised.
• 1765 Mat) - Virginia suggested a visit to Wakefield to research the person that may have created
this map.
• Conference -Sharlene and Virginia attended interesting seminar on September I& in Salem, MA
regarding historic preservation and dealing with local zoning issue regarding historic structures.
• Meeting adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
