HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007-04-04 Historical Commission MinutesReading Historical Commission Meeting Minutes 4 April 2007 Meeting called to order at 10:10 am in the Town Hall Conference room Commission Members in attendance included: Kathy Greenfield, Chair Sharlene Reynolds Santo, Secretary Virginia Adams, Member Karen Herrick, Associate Member Minutes: • 420 Franklin St. - Kathy gave an overview of the property's current status. She also suggested that we put all future correspondence with the Owner in writing. Virginia contacted David O'Sullivan who suggested contacting Boston University for assistance getting measured drawings of the property. Kathy had already contacted BU Preservation Studies Program who may be able to assist us for a fee, but not immediately. Sharl suggested contacting the owners to check if the architect's drawings had already been corrected so that we can continue the process, and that we should also request a time line for construction. Virginia moved to appropriate up to $2,500 for measured drawings and other documentation for 420 Franklin St. Funds to be taken from the General Fund then from the Special Revenue Funds. Sharlene seconded. Vote 3-0. Kathy will contact the owner regarding the drawings and timeline. Preservation Restriction for 420 Franklin - Kathy suggested defining artifacts, features, materials, appearance that we wish to keep in current condition. Also discussed Section 2.1 Grantor Covenants, and noted that Section 3.1 calls for written approval from the RHC to maintain repair or alter the building. It was agreed that the RHC needs to see a written plan from the Owner prior to approval. 457 Franklin St. - We've been contacted by the owner regarding the sale of this property to a developer. • Adjourned at 11:20 am • Next Meeting in the Berger Room on April 10.
